Tips for completing the Form I-9 — E-Verify

Accessing the I-9 Form

On March 8, 2013, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a two-page Form I-9. Several versions of the Form I-9 have since been released in the two-page format, but on August 1, 2023, USCIS issued a new version of the Form I-9 that combines Sections 1 and 2 onto one page. This latest version added supplements for what was formerly Section 3 and for the preparer/translator certification if those sections are needed. If those sections are not needed, then the complete I-9 is only one page.

The most recent Form I-9 has an issue date on the bottom left-hand corner of 8/1/2023 and an expiration date in the top right-hand corner of 7/31/2026.

Employers must complete a Form I-9 to verify identity and employment authorization at the time they hire a new employee. Employers must use the most recent I-9 form. Using an older expired Form I-9 can result in fines. To ensure that you are using the most recent Form I-9 visit:
