Gunster

Gunster’s Labor and Employment law practice is comprised of attorneys who have spent decades dedicated to serving as trusted advisers in employment law. Where today’s workplace is more regulated than at any other time in history, our team remains commi8tted to providing practical legal counsel. When our clients are faced with a workforce-related lawsuit or administrative complaint, our team strives to provide actionable advice and defense. Our firm advises on preventative counseling and proactive human resources practices, single plaintiff and class-action employment litigation, trial and appellate matters, as well as alternative dispute resolution strategies.

Gunster serves clients at every phase of employment, including the retention of employees, creation of sound management policies and resolution of disputes in and out of court and in administration proceedings. Our attorneys regularly represent employers involved in challenges as diverse as disability access and accommodation; FLSA and FMLA claims; unfair competition and trade secrets, including noncompetition, nonsolicitation and confidentiality agreements; OSHA, ERISA, public works and prevailing wage law; and immigration law including the EB-5 Investment Visa Program; among many others.

Our attorneys seek to provide proactive strategies that offer the potential to educate and protect against the mistakes that often lead to litigation. The firm offers counseling and training for management and human resource employees, continuing education through seminars and client alerts announcing recent law changes, as well as advice and drafting assistance with policies and procedures. Our collective experience includes reductions in workforce, such as employee layoffs, terminations and plant closings, and wage and hour investigations and Department of Labor audits.  In addition to union avoidance and strategic planning regarding mergers and acquisitions, our attorneys offer counsel for union-related matters including collective bargaining, labor arbitrations, election campaigns and proceedings before the NLRB.

As Florida’s law firm for business, Gunster provides full-service legal counsel to a diverse array of clients ranging from individuals and startups, to Fortune 100 companies. Established in 1925, the firm has expanded, diversified and evolved but always with a singular focus: Florida and its clients’ stake in it. With almost 200 attorneys and 200 committed support staff across 12 offices, Gunster is ranked among the National Law Journal’s list of the 500 largest law firms and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Diverse Law Firms by Law360.
