Ann Holden Kendell is a member at BrownWinick and serves as Co-Chair of BrownWinick's Employment Law practice group. Ann practices primarily in the area of employment law and commercial litigation.
Ann counsels employers in human resources policies and procedures; unlawful discrimination, harassment and retaliation; whistleblower issues; FMLA; Iowa state and federal wage and hour issues; restrictive covenants (non-competes, non-solicitation agreements and confidentiality agreements); and drug testing policies and procedures, as well as handles employment litigation. She conducts management training concerning drug testing and personnel issues and has served as an investigator for clients regarding misconduct, discrimination and harassment allegations. Ann represents her clients in front of administrative agencies, such as Iowa Workforce Development and the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, and in arbitration, as well as state and federal courts. Ann received her B.S. degree in history from Iowa State University in 1995 and her J.D. from Drake University Law School in 1998. She was admitted to the Iowa bar, United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa and United States Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1998. After graduation, Ann clerked for Iowa Supreme Court Justice David Harris until she entered private practice in August of 1999.
Bridget R. Penick represents employers of all sizes, both in state and federal courts as well as before administrative agencies. Bridget is a leading litigator whose practice focuses on employment law. She counsels employers in human resources policies and procedures, employment discrimination, FMLA, ADA, wage & hour, NLRA issues and union organization. She also assists employers with employment-related immigration issues.
Elizabeth A. Coonan is a member at BrownWinick. Elizabeth serves as Co-Chair of BrownWinick's Employment Law practice group.
Elizabeth represents clients in the areas of employment, workers' compensation and business immigration law. Elizabeth is active in the community as a Commissioner on the Iowa Commission on the Status of Women and a member of the Board of Directors of House of Mercy. She previously served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Young Women's Resource Center, is a graduate of and a past member of the Board of Governors of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute, served as the Strategic Planning Director and Fund Development Director for the Junior League of Des Moines, and has served other non-profit organizations in varying capacities.
Elizabeth received her B.A. in Political Science and International Studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and her J.D., with honors, from Drake University. Megan Erickson Moritz is a member at BrownWinick and practices primarily in employment law and commercial litigation. She also maintains a general practice including appellate work, business law, and representative actions (such as class actions and collective actions).
In her employment practice, Megan defends and advises employers on employment-related issues and disputes, such as those related to restrictive covenants, wage and hour requirements, as well as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination matters. Megan received her B.S. degree from Iowa State University, with distinction, in 2004 and her J.D. from Drake University Law School, with high honors, in 2007. At Drake, Megan was a Dwight D. Opperman Scholar and was active in the Drake Law Review. In law school, Megan was a Special Federal Judicial Intern to Chief Magistrate Judge Ross A. Walters, United States District Court for the Southern District Court of Iowa in 2006 and a Federal Honors Appellate Judicial Extern to the Honorable William J.
