Learning Objectives: Paid Sick Leave Several cities in Texas have enacted ordinances mandating that private employers provide their employees with paid sick leave. This presentation will give an overview of what these ordinances do, the state of litigation against them, and the ultimate question of whether they will eventually be enforceable. It will conclude with an analysis of what the enactment of these ordinances, combined with the apparent realignment of political coalitions in the United States relating to business, means for further regulation of employment relationships in Texas and in the Nation.
