This session will address performance management and progressive discipline -- from the introductory period through termination. Through a discussion of best practices and common pitfalls, John will explore the difference between managing and evaluating performance, how to prepare and deliver effective performance evaluations, the effective use of progressive discipline, and when and when not to use performance improvement plans. Recognizing that efforts to address performance and conduct concerns will not always be successful, John will also address how to make and implement the decision to terminate, while limiting legal exposure.
