Dinah Choi

Dinah Choi has a nationwide regulatory compliance and employment litigation practice focused on workplace safety and health.  She provides compliance advice to employers on the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act and state plans including the Oregon Safe Employment Act and Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act, as well as to mine operators on the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act – all designed to give employers operational freedom and practical business solutions while maintaining compliance.  Clients appreciate her keen understanding of operational issues as she has the benefit of substantial experience with technical matters in a wide range of industries including energy, transportation, agriculture, and healthcare.

Dinah is an experienced litigator and has successfully represented employers in the full range of government agency enforcement actions, informal conferences, citation contests, workplace inspections and investigations, and fatal accident and catastrophic injury investigations.  Dinah also litigates safety discrimination, retaliation, and whistle-blower cases throughout the country.  Her experience ranges from defending management during federal agency investigations and developing position statements to litigating whistle-blower cases in federal and administrative courts.

Dinah frequently speaks on occupational and mine safety and health (OSHA and MSHA) law topics and provides training for employers on developing effective safety and health programs, mitigating supervisor liability, and responding to workplace fatalities and catastrophic injuries.  She also conducts privileged post-accident investigations and internal risk assessments. 

Dinah regularly contributes to the Associated Oregon Industries (AOI) Human Resources Manual as the editor of the Safety and Health in the Workplace, Politics in the Workplace, and Disaster Planning chapters.
